There was a time when buying a home was just an expected part of life. The way things are now that seems like an impossibility for so many, we want to change that.
The Dream
How many times have you heard the complaint, "I can afford to pay $1,500 a month for rent but I can't afford to buy a home of my own." Or "I want to retire, but I can't afford my mortgage so I have to keep working." Too often.
When a house does come up on the market, it gets snatched up so fast, often by out of state investors, most family buyers don't stand a chance. Building a home during the housing crisis in the US has made it impossible for many to even entertain the hope of home ownership. Criteria for getting bank loans often means that those who currently pay $1,500+ a month for rent, often cannot get approved for a bank loan large enough to purchase even a small house.
With changes in society due to Covid-19, economic down turns, wildfires causing lumber shortages and costs skyrocketing has pushed home ownership even further out of reach for so many.
The Inspiration
A love story
EcoDream Homes LLC Managing Director and Owner, Zee Priest, married Terry Tanski August 31, 2019, just two years after meeting on a blind date. Coming out of 2020 and having struggled with changes in the world and impact on the economy, Terry and Zee started to make plans to complete some remodels on their home, sell it and build their own little dream home. They never got the chance to fulfill that dream. Terry died of Covid June 18th, 2021. Zee was blessed to be able to be with Terry to comfort him when he passed.
She decided to move forward with their plans and build in his memory. But she could not find anyone to build their dream home the way she wanted or within her budget. A good friend suggested that she just start her own company. That way she could not only build her home, but also to help others achieve that same dream. With the mission to help as many people as possible to realize the same dream, she found a way. She believed she could, so she did.
Zee has over a decades of experience overseas working for one of the world’s largest oil company as a Contracts Specialist for several multi-billion dollar construction projects. She wants to do more than just build her own dream home, she wants to help others have theirs as well.
